Should V2 have email confirmation?

gautam says he might decide to make emails a requirement.

Though, do not make people verify them.

That would make it hard for people who only have school emails to make accounts

He should. Botting will be harder

i dont i use a fake email for everything

Without verification, there’s no stopping people from putting in a fake email address that doesn’t exist.

Can’t people with school emails just use their personal one or just make a new email account if needed?

Google (gmail) is literally free and takes less then 5 minutes to make

My school does not allow Chrome books making new emails and not all kids have personal emails, that is why I’m worried

If possible, access any non-school computer at home or use your phone to make a personal email?

Assuming that most of the forum users here are at least 13 years old, they should be old enough to have one now. I had a personal email since I was 10.

This is getting slightly off-topic lol, probably discuss this in chat or split this into a new topic?

Ok so it won’t be directly included in V2 but I plan to roll it out sometime after. My idea is switch to strictly Oauth (Google, Discord, or other 3rd party logins).

People would just need to link one of these to continue using their account. I’ll try to make it as painless as possible but this way I dont need to verify your emails manually (3rd party already done it) and also easier to prevent bot accounts.

Not to mention that you wont need to remember a password and that stuff goes away
