Minimap
This is what the minimap for this idea would look like as an example (the bottom biome is in two different colors to represent the two biome ideas):
Resized map
First off, the map should be resized to be 150% the size it is now. This would make up for the size lost in the grass and lava biomes, would balance out the size of the snow biome and desert/jungle biome, and would also make the smaller biomes more practical to have.
Spawn reworks
Looking at the minimap example, you can see that the central spawnpoint has been moved to 4 different corner spawns. While this may seem like a confusing idea, this would actually be really helpful since this basically fixes spawnkilling with less predictability, and this would also make the experience for new players better as they have a smaller chance of being instantly killed, and can start closer to the biomes.
Idea for new spawn: Spawn selection
This is pretty self explanatory, but before you spawn in game you can select which spawn you want to spawn at. This would be a bit difficult to code, but this would help with this idea tremendously as it would fix spawnkilling even more (by being able to choose a spawn away from the spawnkiller), it would make early game much better being able to start where you want (ESPECIALLY if you want to start at a specific biome), and this also makes playing with friends much betterRemade center of map
If you look at the minimap example, you can see that the spot with the current spawn is still there, but is a different biome. Instead of flat out deleting the old spawn and making the map less unique, I think this spot should be remade into a different place.
What it is
This place is essentially an island that acts as the central point (like how grass and snow have the giant lakes and lava has the giant lava pool) for the river biome. This "biome" wouldn't have any objects or mobs and would have the same movement speed as the grass biome, but a lot of chests would spawn on this island. This would also make circling around the center of the map less rewarding and less functional, helping out for pvp.The black chest
Along with the chests this island already has, it would also have a chest with a rarity above purple: the black chest (maybe another color this took less than a minute), and this chest would drop 10k or 15k coins. This would spawn around every 5 minutes, but would NOT be visible on the map, making it more strategic to get.The new biome
(Note: these biome ideas don’t include mobs or bosses yet)
The way the new biome at the bottom will work can be one of two possibilities, with one being easier but being less interesting, and one thats harder to make but is much higher quality and more rewarding:
Option 1: single biome
This is the easier idea, and basically just follows the standard of the same biome thats always in the same place. There are two biomes that could take this place:Jungle Biome
- Speed faster than lava biome, but more friction (so around lava biome’s speed but it’d take less time to stop moving after no longer pressing a movement key, great for pvp)
- Obstacles
- Jungle canopy (environmental): Jungle canopies would act like trees but much better, being bigger than trees, and being more opaque making it harder to see people in canopies. Coming in contact with a tree would also make you faster instead of slightly slower like normal trees
- Fruit bush (interactive): Fruit bushes would be solid like icebergs in the snow biome and are about the size of small rocks, but actually give you REGENERATION on contact instead of damage (although the regen would be very small)
- Jungle pond (central point): This would basically be like the lake in the grass biome but more green, and decreasing the speed of the player a little less. There would also be a bigger jungle canopy above the pond (but doesn’t affect movement speed), essentially allowing you to hide in the pond.
Desert Biome
- Speed between lava and grass biome, and a bit less friction (a bit more slippery-like)
- Obstacles
- Dead bushes (environmental): Dead bushes would be like a mix between lakes, lava pools and trees. They have the appearance of trees but dead, smaller and would also overlap players like trees do. Being under a dead bush would also slow you down heavily (like lakes) and deal very small amounts of damage (like small lava pools)
- Cactus (interactive): Cactuses would act like rocks and could be pushed, but would deal high amounts of contact damage. If you’re wondering why cactuses should be able to be pushed, just think of the pvp strategies that could be used with that
- Oasis (central point): The oasis lake would have basically the same stats as the grass biome’s giant lake, but would also have trees around it, and would give a very small amount of contact regeneration.
