Oh, sorry for the confusion! I should’ve been more clear.
A player’s prestige wouldn’t reset; the Prestige points would add up over the days, which would allow you to move up the Prestige ranks. What does reset is the daily leaderboard, which determines how many Prestige points are awarded to a player at the end of each day. This is just a concept, but maybe only the top 5 (this number’s a placeholder, can be changed) players for daily XP could earn Prestige points (higher rank earns more points). And a player would need to reach a certain amount of Prestige points to move up a Prestige rank (i.e. from Bronze to Silver rank, which would can be seen by a change in your in-game Prestige icon).
Rather than grinding a lot in order to reach top 100 in order to get an in-game leaderboard rank next to their username, players would only need to focus on obtaining a top 5 spot on the daily XP leaderboard (which they could get unknowingly by just playing the game) in order to rank up their Prestige. And every new day gives players another chance to do so. Prestige or a similar feature may give non-top-100 and newer players an opportunity to show off their progression and hard work with a small icon next to their username, without needing to grind all the way to top 100 for all-time XP.
